Civ Overview: Ottomans
As sent to me by Maikh
Ottomans:
Pros: strongest rush in the game, strongest early game.
Cons: very weak economy/boom.
Difficulty: Easy
Best strategy: Silk road janissary rush.
Overview:
The ottoman main difference from european civilizations is the fact that their villagers are free, but they take 50 seconds to be created. Due to this fact, they can age up to colonial faster than any european civilization but it also means weaker economy. Instead of the church, they have a mosque, that has a imam instead of a priest, it has techs to improve vil max capacity and creation speed, and they spawn experience at a 0,4 per second rate.
That makes the ottoman rush one of the strongest and fastest rushes, until japan and india were added to the game.
Mistakes you definitely CAN'T do as ottoman:
- Have no other way to gather food and/or coin than berry bushes/mills/plantations: if ottoman get a weaker economy than it was already, you lose.
- Let your vils out there gathering resources without defense, making them easy targets to enemy raids: if your opponent kills your vils: you're economy gets even weaker, and that plus expensive units equals loss.
- Keep making units and building an army instead of attacking and raiding: your advantage is not in a superior army, it's in speed and keep pressuring your opponent until he makes a mistake; if you sit down and let your opponent build his army, it will be bigger than yours, with a better economy than yours.
